Unawatuna
Our home village: a sheltered bay with calm water, beginner surf, cafés, yoga studios and boutique shops. Oura Spirit sits in a quiet green lane a 7-minute tuk-tuk ride from the beach.
Galle Fort
The UNESCO-listed Dutch fort is about 6 km away. Walk the ramparts at sunset, visit the lighthouse and museums, then come back to the calm of the garden.
Jungle Beach & Rumassala
A small cove below the Rumassala hill and the Japanese Peace Pagoda, just under 3 km from us. Good for snorkelling on calm days.
Dalawella & Thalpe
East of Unawatuna, Dalawella Beach is 3.1 km away, known for its rock pools and turtles close to shore.

Why stay in Unawatuna rather than inside the fort?
Galle Fort is wonderful to explore, but busy and built-up. Staying 6 km away in Unawatuna gives you a pool garden, more space for your money and a choice of beaches, while the fort’s ramparts, lighthouse, museums and restaurants stay a short drive away.
Most guests visit the fort for a sunset walk or a half day, then come back to a swim and dinner from our kitchen.

Galle Fort is about 6 km from Oura Spirit, a short tuk-tuk or car ride away. Many guests stay with us for a calmer, greener base and visit the fort’s ramparts, lighthouse, museums and cafés as a half-day or evening trip. We can arrange a driver for you.
Is there parking at Oura Spirit?
Yes. Free private parking is available on site, with no need to reserve, and there is bicycle parking too. The property is gated with security on site around the clock, so cars, scooters and bikes are safe while you are out exploring or relaxing by the pool.
